Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and urges to perform repetitive behaviors (compulsions). Obsessions are involuntary, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that evoke significant distress. Compulsions are behaviors that individuals perform in an effort to alleviate the discomfort caused by these obsessions. These thoughts and behaviors can feel overwhelming and time-consuming, significantly impacting daily activities. Effective treatment for OCD often involves Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
