Parenting Work
Our parenting work is dedicated to helping parents cultivate "BRAVE muscles" in their children, focusing on three essential components:
1.
Building Relationships: We emphasize the importance of strong, nurturing relationships between parents and children. By fostering a secure attachment, parents create a foundation of trust and safety, allowing children to explore their emotions and the world around them. Strong relationships encourage open communication, helping children feel valued and understood.
2.
Utilizing Attention: We guide parents on how to give purposeful attention to their children's needs and feelings. This involves actively listening, engaging with them in meaningful ways, and recognizing their achievements and struggles. Additionally, we teach the concept of selective attention, helping parents focus on positive behaviors and moments that deserve reinforcement. By providing focused attention, parents create an environment where children feel seen and supported, which is vital for their emotional development.
3.
Validation and Exposure to Emotions: Our approach encourages parents to validate their children’s emotions, helping them understand that it’s normal to experience a range of feelings. We teach parents how to support their children in processing these emotions, rather than dismissing or minimizing them. Through structured exposure to emotions, parents can help their children learn how to cope with and express their feelings effectively, fostering emotional resilience and confidence.
